The company’s payout model was based on tranches, where commissions were distributed in phases as the buyer's payments came in over time. This system mirrored the dynamics of mortgage-based real estate transactions, with one significant complexity: a portion of the commission was paid upfront and later adjusted against future payments. 

  1. Excel Fatigue from Deal Complexity: Seanderg’s commission rates varied not only by deal size but also by the source of the lead, as each source carried its own dynamic rate table. Attempting to maintain this logic in Excel quickly became a tangled web of formulas and human errors.
